Slingerland Family Farm FAQ's
Can I edit my order?
- Even after your order has been submitted, you can edit this order anytime before your order deadline date. Add items simply by shopping the store as normal. Remove any items by selecting your order details.
How much freezer space will I need?
- As a general rule of thumb, one cubic foot of freezer space will hold up to 25 pounds of meat.
When will my card be charged?
- Because there's a weight variance between similar cuts of meat, we're unable to charge your card until your entire order has been packed and weighed. This ensures that you will be charged for the exact weight of each item you receive. You can expect to receive an email with a detailed receipt confirming your payment.
How do delivery day's work?
Deliveries are on Tuesdays, generally between 10am-3pm. Please leave a cooler outside for convenient drop off of frozen foods.
How is my order packaged?
- All meat items come individually packaged and frozen. Your items will always be packed in boxes or bags for your convenience
Processing and Inspection
Our meat is inspected, processed and Onsite USDA inspectors oversee the daily processing and packaging of all products for safety and compliance with government regulations.
Are products seasonal, or available all year around?
We are currently evaluating herd/flock management so that our products can be available for purchase year-round. As we continue to grow we may have periods of time when certain products become unavailable. When you see an item listed as, “Out of Stock” this is more likely a temporary shortage and the item will be available again as soon as possible.
Unlike a common industry practice, our product does not spend time fresh on a sales shelf and then frozen as a last resort to extend its life. Rather, all of our meat products are flash frozen immediately after processing to preserve freshness!
How long will product last in my freezer?
Cuts will stay fresh up to one year in the freezer as long as the vacuum seal has not been compromised. If a seal should happen to come loose, the product should be fine. Just use this package first. Once product has been thawed, they should be cooked within two to three days of refrigeration.
Are Slingerland Family Farm products certified organic?
While our farm is not technically "certified" organic by the USDA, we do adhere to organic farming principles and practices. Some of our practices go beyond "organic" standards, like requiring that most of our ruminant animal products are 100% grass-fed and produced without grain or grain by-products.
At the end of the day, we would encourage you to put your trust in our family and our farm rather than in a stamp that relies on costly inspections and government regulators. We believe that the very best form of producer-to-consumer accountability and transparency exists when consumers take an active responsibility to develop a connection and relationship with the farmer who produces their food!
